The Sonic Punk is Alva's adventurer robot. It's a device used by Alva to allow her to remotely traverse the world with Isabel.
The Sonic Punk acts as Alva's lab assistant 001. Though the robot is not a sentient being in itself, its voice evidently being that of Alva's, Alva likes to pretend with Sam that it actually is sentient, though Sam seems to be unaware of this fact.
One of the Sonic Punk's main in-game purposes is to provide a large ammo and bomb replenishment if called on by John. The Sonic Punk must then recharge before subsequent use.
Biography
Before actually meeting Alva and Isabel in Chapter 3, the Sonic Punk can be seen accompanying Isabel in a short cutscene in Chapter 1. In Chapter 3, we finally meet and interact with the Sonic Punk in Alva's grandfather's former house, where the robot, controlled by Alva, attempts to use dynamite to blow up obstructing boulders, though Alva/the Sonic Punk seems to have a bad habit of using too much dynamite.
In Chapter 4, after Alva becomes infected by the MIASMA, the Sonic Punk enters automatic mode, and operates as a non-sentient, independent robot.
